We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Director of finance and administration to join our fast-growing software startup. As the Director of finance and administration, you will play a critical role in driving financial planning, operational efficiency, and overall business performance. This position reports directly to the CEO and will be responsible for managing and overseeing finance, accounting, and operational functions within the organization.
Responsibilities :
Finance :
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the company's growth objectives and financial health.
- Lead the financial planning and budgeting process, ensuring accurate forecasting, resource allocation, and cost control measures.
- Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, to executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize profitability and cash flow.
- Drive financial modeling and analysis to support decision-making, including pricing, investments, and potential funding opportunities.
- Oversee financial risk management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal controls.
- Manage relationships with banking partners and assist in fundraising activities, including debt or equity financing.
- Identify and pursue potential grant opportunities to secure additional funding for the company, including conducting research, preparing grant applications, and managing grant compliance and reporting processes.
- Attract and recruit high-performing candidates, foster a culture of accountability, and set clear expectations along with measurable performance metrics.
- Oversee the identification and application for available subsidies, including conducting research, preparing applications, and managing compliance and reporting processes related to subsidies.
- Assist the CEO in preparing for board meetings, investor communications, and other high-level strategic discussions, providing critical financial insights and recommendations.
Operations :
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness across the organization.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making processes to guide financial and operational strategies, and provide key data to support strategic & tactical decisions.
- Leverage advanced analytics tools to interpret complex data sets and generate actionable insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align operations with business objectives, ensuring smooth coordination and execution of projects.
- Implement and improve operational processes, systems, and tools to support business operations and drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor key operational metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
- Drive operational risk management, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards in all operational activities.
- Support the organization to create high-performing teams by developing clear role expectations, implementing performance metrics, and fostering a culture of accountability.
- Oversee performance management processes to ensure continuous company/team development.
- Manage employee relations by fostering a positive and productive work environment. Implement policies and practices that promote employee satisfaction, address concerns, and enhance overall workplace morale.
- Manage relationships with payment processing partners, including renegotiating terms and exploring potential new partnerships to optimize payment processes and reduce costs.
- Work closely with the CEO in operational aspects of board meetings, investor communications, etc., providing key updates on operational strategies, achievements, and future plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in a similar finance and administration leadership role, preferably within a B2B software startup or high-growth technology company.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, along with experience in financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute operational strategies, driving process improvements and organizational efficiency.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in financial management software and E-com/SaaS systems. Experience with SaaS metrics and reporting is a plus.
- Understanding of the startup environment and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and agile organization.
