Legal Officer

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support to our organization's operations and strategic initiatives. You will work closely with various departments, including compliance, human resources, and finance, to ensure that all business practices align with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of Indian law and regulations, alongside a proven track record of managing complex legal matters. This position requires exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Assist the General Counsel in preparing for court and arbitration cases such as conducting legal research and gathering relevant information to the case, gather and analyze information, prepare a written memo for submission to court / arbitration, and report to be used to determine how the case should be handled
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research to ensure compliance with local and international laws and regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and oversee their activities.
  • Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance issues and corporate governance matters.
  • Collect information and evidence for decision making of management
  • Assist the General Counsel in preparing presentations to be presented to the management
  • Attend meetings, take notes, prepare and communicate the minutes of the relevant meeting to the concerned parties and initiating agendas/minutes for Board meetings.
  • Draft correspondences and legal briefs for various parties
  • Assist the General Counsel in preparing and reviewing various legal documents such as contracts, letters, notices, with the Company's clients, suppliers and subcontractors, etc.
  • Assist the General Counsel in preparing and attesting various documentations (such as board resolutions, company registration certificates and trade licenses, etc.) for the purpose of establishing and registering subsidiaries and/or branches and/or JVs held by the Company.
  • Follow up with subsidiaries and branches of the Company on getting their registration certificates, trade licenses, and directorship in place and up to date.
  • Upon the request of the General Counsel, follow up with the head office, subsidiaries and branches of the Company on compliance related issues.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as translation of documents and checking the documents translation, filing papers and documents, maintaining and organizing reference files and records.
  • Write periodic reports on developments of the legal department tasks, and meeting KPIs related to job role.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB); Master’s degree (LLM) is preferred

Minimum 4-8 years of experience in corporate legal practice or in-house legal counsel role.

Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments

Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and negotiate high-stakes contracts.

Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge on legal matters and issues with legal background

English (Read/Write/Speak) – fluent, French and Arabic will be a plus.
