Principal Scientist - Antibody Display & Selection
Bonum Therapeutics, Inc. is an early-stage biopharmaceutical company creating a new class of immuno-oncology protein therapeutics that are delivered systemically but activated locally.
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Principal Scientist to join the Antibody Discovery group. The successful candidate will lead yeast surface display efforts to generate novel therapeutic molecules to advance Bonum’s biologics pipeline. The ideal candidate will be responsible for antibody discovery and engineering using antibody yeast display technologies, including library design, phage-to-yeast approaches, and sequence analysis to identify antibodies against diverse targets. The ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment is critical.

Responsibilities:
- Lead yeast surface display efforts for novel antibody discovery and antibody optimization including library design, antibody selection, and sequence analysis of output populations.
- Lead a small team as well as work in a hands-on lab-based position.
- Design creative and quantitative antibody selection approaches to identify functional antibodies against diverse targets.
- In an integrated team environment, collaborate across multiple functional areas (e.g. assay and screening, protein sciences, and phage display groups) to generate panels of lead antibody molecules to advance a pipeline of therapeutic programs.
- Stay up to date with current literature to maintain best practices and drive advancement of antibody display technologies.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with 8+ years of experience, or master’s degree with 12+ years of experience. Industry experience is preferred.
- Deep expertise and hands-on experience using yeast display platforms for novel antibody discovery and antibody optimization. Experience with library design and phage-to-yeast approaches, FACS-based selection, and sequence analysis to identify antibodies against diverse targets with appropriate functionality.
- Expertise in molecular biology.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional groups as a team player.
- Creative and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with electronic notebooks and scientific databases and applications for data management and data analysis.
Additional Experience:
- Strong technical knowledge of NGS technology including NGS library generation, QC, sequencing, and sequence analysis.
- Antibody and protein engineering experience.
- Experience with approaches for antibody epitope and paratope mapping and familiarity with protein structure analysis software.
- Experience with automation.
- Familiarity with additional methods for in vitro and in vivo antibody discovery.
- Industry experience with biologics discovery and lead selection.
The annual salary range for the position is $160k - $190k. Job level and compensation will depend on candidate qualifications.
